The closing conference on March 24, 2026, marked an important milestone for the “news-polygraph” research consortium. After three years of work, we presented our findings and discussed them with journalists, researchers, and technologists.
In her keynote address, Paula Gori, Secretary General of the European Digital Media Observatory, reflected on current European efforts to combat disinformation and what this means for journalism and the practice of fact-checking.
In the panel discussion with Julia Bayer (Deutsche Welle), Tim Polzehl (German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI)), and moderator Veronika Solopova (Technical University of Berlin), we discussed what truly supports journalists in their work, where tools reach their limits, and what expectations are realistic in daily editorial practice.
